Houston, Texas - February 8, 2017
Six CEMEX USA aggregates facilities are being recognized for their dedication and involvement in their local communities, receiving prestigious awards from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association.
The NSSGA on Monday named CEMEX’s Lake Wales Sand Mine in Florida as a 2017 Gold Community Relations Award winner. The Gold Award is given to the top 10 percent of facilities receiving the highest scores from the NSSGA’s group of independent judges.
"We are proud to be part of the communities where we operate and are honored to be recognized by the NSSGA," said Kirk Light, CEMEX USA's Regional President for Florida and Carolinas. "These awards illustrate the hard work that CEMEX and the Florida Aggregates team have put forth in being a good neighbor."
CEMEX’s 474 and Davenport Sand Mines in Florida each received 2017 Silver Community Relations Awards. The CEMEX FEC Quarry in Florida, along with the Lytle Creek and Moorpark Quarries in California, received bronze awards this year.
NSSGA developed the Community Relations Awards in 1989 to recognize aggregate producers whose community involvement and support activities enhanced the public’s perception of the aggregates industry in general. The awards are also given to facilities that enhance the public image of their individual operations.
The awards will be officially presented at the NSSGA 2017 Annual Convention in Las Vegas. A list of all award winners is available on NSSGA's website: www.nssga.org/awards/community-relations-awards.
