CEMEX USA, a building materials company that manufactures and supplies high-quality cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete, announced today it finished supplying more than 170,000 cubic yards of concrete for the construction of the newly-opened Chase Center and surrounding structures in San Francisco, Calif. The premier entertainment and retail complex will serve as the new home for the six-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.
Construction on Chase Center, the new jewel in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood, began in January 2017, and over the span of construction, CEMEX provided joint venture general contractor Mortensen | Clark with 114,000 cubic yards of concrete for the arena itself and an additional 60,000 cubic yards for the foundation, underground support and a nearby office building. The privately-financed Chase Center is expected to host nearly 200 events per year. The arena features 18,000 seats, more than 130 premium spaces including traditional suites and more than three acres of publicly accessible plazas and open space.
“For years, CEMEX has helped enhance the lives of people across the United States, delivering high-quality products safely for projects such as Chase Center in San Francisco, Texas Tower in Houston and the luxurious The Estates of Acqualina in South Florida,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “We are proud to provide the materials to create buildings and venues that will be utilized and enjoyed for years to come.”
“CEMEX has helped change the skylines in cities across the western U.S., supplying several high-profile projects in California, Nevada and Arizona for decades by leveraging our well-positioned cement, aggregates and ready-mix facilities,” said Eric Wittmann, CEMEX USA Regional President – West Region. “Our extensive network is well-suited to accommodate large projects and tackle the region’s future construction needs.”
In addition to Chase Center, CEMEX has been integral in shaping San Francisco’s skyline in the last few years. CEMEX supplied concrete for both the 1,070-foot Salesforce Tower, which opened in 2018, and for the four-building complex Lumina, which opened in 2016. Both projects earned CEMEX Building Awards.
