CEMEX prides itself on being an engaged corporate citizen in all the communities in which we operate around the world. We encourage our employees to participate actively in a wide array of programs and activities that have a common theme: making our communities better places in which to live and to work.
CEMEX conducts business with respect and care for the environment. We are committed to preserving and improving the ecologies in which we operate and devote considerable resources to environmental quality efforts. All our plants have an open-door policy, and use the most advanced emission control equipment available to reduce the impact on our environment.
In addition, we work with a number of environmental partners - including Conservation International, North America Nature Photographer Association, and World Wildlife Fund, among others - to support wildlife conservation projects around the world.
Whether it is volunteering, supporting computer labs that educate young people on how to use the Internet, or helping provide basic community services, CEMEX employees are making a difference in their communities. CEMEX - directly and through matching programs that encourage employee philanthropy-supports local hospitals, police departments, fire departments, schools, and a series of not-for-profit organizations with national reach.
CEMEX believes in the training and growth of all its employees, and spends more than $35 million every year on internal training and educational programs. These programs range from MBAs and leadership training to function-specific courses and Internet training. Last year CEMEX provided free computers and Internet connections at home to more than 1,700 employees worldwide, and has recently launched an e-learning initiative that will allow employees to access a broad variety of courses over the Internet.
