Four CEMEX USA Cement Plants Earn EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Certification and Three CEMEX Ready Mix Plants Earn ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry

Plants in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, California and Texas Recognized for Energy Efficiency

HOUSTON, TX, USA. - October 15, 2015

CEMEX USA is pleased to announce that four of its cement manufacturing plants have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR® certification in 2015. The recognition of CEMEX USA’s plants in Miami, Fla., Clinchfield, Ga., Fairborn, Ohio, and Victorville, Calif., demonstrates that these facilities perform among the top 25 percent of similar U.S. facilities for energy conservation. 2015 marks the ninth consecutive year of certification for the Clinchfield plant, an achievement realized by only one other cement plant in the U.S., the fifth consecutive certification for the Miami plant, the fourth for the Victorville and Fairborn plants.

Three CEMEX USA ready mix plants, located in La Porte, TX, Mission, TX and Rosenburg, TX met the ENERGY STAR challenge by committing to the pre-established goal of reducing energy intensity by 10% within 5 years or less. Collectively, these recognized CEMEX USA ready mix plants cut energy intensity by an average of 21 percent by the replacement and use of more energy efficient parts and equipment such as dust collectors, conveyor belt pulleys, and lighting.

“CEMEX is committed to sustainable practices throughout our operations, including energy efficiency,” said Karl H. Watson, Jr., President of CEMEX USA. “We are honored to again be recognized by the EPA and Energy Star for our commitment to sustainable practices.”
